CFC Mission Statement
“[We] want to know Christ” so that we might become like him, reflecting the image of the Father to a fallen world in ever-increasing ways until our salvation is made complete by the revelation of Jesus at his coming.
What We Believe (Core Beliefs)
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Son of God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ to reveal the divine image of his Father to humanity and to become the Savior of a World that no longer perfectly reflected this divine image.
We believe that, though human beings were originally created in the image of God so as to bring him glory, we became alienated in our relationship with Him through sinful disobedience (both Adam’s and ours)—marring His image in us. As a result, we are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God—so as to once again fully reflect His divine image—through our own efforts.
We believe that the precious blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of our sin and the promised restored relationship with our Father in heaven. Through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus, he becomes the just and sufficient payment for our sin, freeing us from all sin’s entrapments and opening the way for a renewed life with the Father.
We believe that all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By the Spirit enabled obedience of faith in the Word of God, every genuine believer is growing in Christian maturity and will be fully conformed once again into the image of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, which is our hope.
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus is its head. The members of the Church are those who have united themselves with Jesus through faith in his finished work on the cross. Our purpose as a church is to reflect the glory of God by loving Him and by making Him known to a lost World.
The five previous statements of faith are based on the following belief: We believe that the entire Bible (contained in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) is the inspired word of God and that the human authors were moved and guided by the Spirit of God to accurately convey in their own words God’s revelation to us. Therefore, we believe that the Bible is without error in all matters (whether historical, scientific, or salvific) that its divine author asserts to be true.
Missionary Support Philosophy
Christ Fellowship Church is committed to the advancement of the Gospel through both local and international missionary endeavors. Consequently, we will consider the financial support of individuals and families engaged in such activities. Our priority of consideration, which may or may not affect the level of support, are as follows:
1) Christ Fellowship Church recognizes that its greatest responsibility in financial support belongs to those from within our congregation that have been called to missionary service. As the sending organization of such individuals and families we recognize that we serve as their primary support base, both financially and spiritually.
2) Christ Fellowship Church recognizes the need for missionaries to raise support in a relatively small geographical area. For this reason our second level of priority is for missionaries that have been raised up in area churches of like faith. In this we desire to partner with the sending church to help make it possible that Christians from the immediate area have opportunity to utilize their gifts in missionary service.
3) Christ Fellowship Church is an active member of the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission—an association of churches working together to reach Montana and Northern Idaho with the Gospel. Hence our third priority will be extended to individuals and families (called to the mission field) from one of our mission churches that have approached us to partner with their home church for support.
4) Christ Fellowship Church recognizes that its own members may have personal relationship with individuals and families that have been called to the mission field. It is our desire to join with them in the support of such people whenever possible. This presumes that such missionaries share our convictions about the gospel and the essentials of the faith, as well as their sending organizations.
Each person that requests support from Christ Fellowship Church will be considered with these priorities in mind. No one will be accepted as a supporting missionary unless approval has been given by the entire board (including the elders) and the majority consensus of the congregation.
Benevolent Giving Philosophy
Christ Fellowship Church is committed to assisting individuals and families in financial need within our community as an extension of the Gospel (James 2:15-17). Since we have limited funds and a desire to be good stewards of those funds we will consider needs in the following order of priority:
1) Any person directly connected with our church body, whether as a member or a regular attendee, that has a specific financial need. The nature of his or her need will also be prioritized as follows:
a) One-time “crisis” type needs
b) Ongoing need
2) A person that has a personal connection or relationship with a member of our fellowship. The nature of his or her need will also be prioritized as follows:
a) One-time “crisis” type needs
b) Ongoing need
3) A person or family that has experienced an unforeseen tragedy within our community, such as a fire, flood, sudden death of a loved one…
4) A person referred to us by a local pastor who has a personal connection or relationship with the person in need. The emphasis here will be on one time “crisis” type needs.
5) A person referred to us by a community organization that has direct knowledge of the genuineness of the need. The emphasis here will also be on one time “crisis” type needs.
If funds are not used for one of the above situations the board has the authority to direct unused funds to local ministries that serve the needs of the poor or disenfranchised, such as food banks, the DLMA…
RMBM Doctrinal Statement
Scripture
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
Trinity
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He now is our High Priest and advocate.
Holy Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.
Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation of all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus, become children of God.
Ordinances
We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.
The Church
We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head.
Mission Membership
We believe that only those who are thus members of the true Church shall be eligible for membership in the Mission.
Future Events
We believe in the personal and premillennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "blessed hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.
Man's End
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and the joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
“I Am A Church Member" Pledge
Adapted from Thom S. Rainer
I. I will be a functioning church member.
In biblical church membership we all are necessary parts of a whole; diverse but unified (1 Corinthian 12-14). We all give abundantly and serve without hesitation, using the spiritual gifts and natural abilities that God has given us.
Pledge 1 – I pledge to be a functioning church member.
2. I will be a unifying church member.
In biblical church membership we strive to “walk worthy of the calling [we] have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love, diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds us” (Eph 4:1-3).
Pledge 2 – I pledge to be a unifying church member.
3. I will not let my church be about my preferences and desires, but will strive to reflect Jesus’ own
attitudes towards others.
We will never find joy in church membership when we are constantly seeking things our way. True joy comes from giving up our rights and preferences and serving others. If we approach church membership from the perspective of entitlement, we have it upside down.
Pledge 3 – I pledge to put the interests of other church members above my own
4. I will be a praying church member.
I recognize that the church is a community of forgiven sinners and in desperate need of the Holy Spirit’s help to live together in righteousness. Therefore, I will pray regularly for my church leaders and fellow members
Pledge 4 – I pledge to pray regularly for my church leaders and fellow members
5. I will be a loving church member.
I will strive to love my fellow church members in word and deed and to encourage them by my own Christian walk to follow Christ in all they say and do
Pledge 5 – I will pledge to love my fellow church members in word and deed and to encourage them to follow Christ in all they say and do.
6. I will be a church member that invites and gives correction with love and humility.
I recognize that the church family is a community that holds one another accountable as we strive together to follow Jesus in reflecting the Father’s glory (especially in areas of holiness and righteousness).
Pledge 6 – I pledge to receive instruction and correction with humility while holding my fellow church members accountable in love.
